Experience what space travel would be like as our digital image creating device projects images of flying through space.
The SKYMAX DSII digital planetarium can not only project celestial scenes but can do so at a maximum resolution of 8000 by 8000 pixels, a resolution 8 times that of full HD video.
This system is used in various situations such as showing space travel in the future, or for displaying scientific images relating to different themes each month (starting in September 2011).
The projector is not visible from visitors' seats so as to avoid leakage of light and sound.
With Panoramic Images
When the panoramic projectors that display high definition panoramic images around the dome are used near the celestial horizon, sunset views in the western sky become more realistic.
This system projects 360-degree, high-definition panoramic images (with a width of 24,000 pixels, or more than 12 times that of full HD video) of celestial horizons.
It projects views such as daytime and evening. 16 projectors have been installed at equal intervals from the center to the outside in order to connect images in a flawless and unbroken 360-degree panorama.
The whole sky movie and digital panorama systems are integrated, together consisting of more than 40 computers, 6 large projectors throughout the entire sky on the dome, and a group of 16 panorama projectors.
This projector displays full HD-quality images in five directions: north, south, east, west and vertex.
Images used in narrations and for the superimposed subtitles for planetarium sessions are routed through this system.
The projector is not visible from visitors' seats so as to avoid leakage of light and sound.
Projection positions can be flexibly changed to suit any purpose without giving off too much light so that images can be seen inside of the planetarium dome.
With Laser Projector Device
Laser projectors allow for laser shows full of entertainment, with celestial scenes, images and music.
Five projector devices and a fog machine are installed inside of the dome.
This enables animations and laser shows to be produced over top of the celestial scenes.
(These devices and the fog machine are used only for special sessions)
This system can give the entire dome a sky blue hue, change colors, and display tones very close to those of real sunsets. To produce natural, bright changes without causing viewer discomfort, we have constructed a separate system that uses special halogen lamps instead of LEDs.
Since the planetarium dome's spherical shape makes sound reverberate, designing the sound system provided many challenges.
Most speakers had to be installed behind the dome screen, which is an aluminum panel into which holes have been made.
In order to build a high-quality sound environment under a highly-realistic starry sky, we decided that we would need to develop a separate sound system for our planetarium.
To improve basic sound quality, sound quality and soundwaves are shifted before being replayed through speakers so that sound passing through the perforated screen is of pure ripple distribution and phase, resulting in a system that ensures crystal-clear soundwaves reach our visitors.

The natural narration and music you hear means this system is working.
You will hear sounds moving, as if surrounded by them, and hear streaming rivers and bugs chirping below your seat.
